Mental Health Therapy
Life's challenges can often leave you feeling off-balance and disconnected from yourself. Whether it's coping with current events, navigating difficult life transitions, overcoming a lack of motivation, feeling stuck, dealing with grief and loss, or simply not feeling like yourself, these situations can make you feel isolated, hesitant to express your true emotions, and unsure of what to do. Many individuals find it challenging to seek psychotherapy and counseling services with a licensed mental health counselor near them. The fear of the unknown, the worry that their voice won't be heard, concerns about the significance of their experiences compared to others, and doubts about finding mental health counselors near them who understand their unique struggles can hold them back. However, by taking this initial step, you've already demonstrated your commitment to your well-being. As a leading provider of mental health counseling services, our team of compassionate and qualified mental health counselors is here to support you. We offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions, and find the understanding you seek. If you're looking for licensed mental health counselors near you, we're here to help you on your journey to healing.
Choosing which therapy is right for you and how to get a therapist in Toronto
Right from the start therapy can be so daunting: Which is the right therapist for me? What modality? There are so many of them, with so many ways of practice. You may wonder: Can this one help me? How does this work? You are right to feel confused. Some people prefer a more direct therapeutic approach: homework assignments, goals that are set and measured at different intervals, while others prefer a less-directive approach. My approach is collaborative and less-directive. People that find my work beneficial have some experience with a directive approach, which seemed to have helped for a while and find no longer satisfying and applicable for their older or newer challenges.I know that all of our different approaches work well for a certain people. What seems to be decisive in a client’s evaluation of successful therapy is the relationship established with the therapist and trusting that the therapist knows what they’re doing. We can discuss my credentials, registration number and trainings attended on our first session.
Services I Offer
Personalized Psychotherapy Care and Guidance
Your first visit
It is my practice to have the first session free of charge.
During the first session I will invite you to tell me about yourself: what motivates you to seek help at this time, how do you hope therapy will help, about your history from your childhood to the present day, life transitions, and meaningful relationships. This will help me understand what you are facing through the lens of your life experience. You will have a sense of how I practice from the way I ask questions and make comments and you can decide if we will continue to work together. I will explain confidentiality limitations, implications and limitations of video/phone counselling, fees (amount, how to make payments) and policies regarding missed appointments.
My fees vary and they are based on individual clients’ circumstances. This will be discussed during the first appointment. Most private insurance providers cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Social Worker, and you can directly inquire with your provider whether my services are covered under your plan.
Online/ virtual therapy
Online/ video/ teletherapy/ e-therapy are ways in which we describe the use of technology in providing psychotherapy services. All professional colleges that regulate psychotherapy service providers have standards when it comes to using of technology. These regulations range from protecting your personal information to professional liability insurance. I follow the OASWSSW’s regulations. For the past three months, our lives have changed in many regards including the ability to access psychotherapy services in person. Virtual therapy is allowing you to access support when you need it. I am currently using technology (phone and video sessions) and I have attended training to understand ethical and practical considerations in video counseling. I will give you more information during our first session.
I love helping my patients develop the tools they need to cope with all of life’s challenges.
